Rubbish and the Countdown

Due to the left hand side pain flaring up again, I didn't run last night. The Plan said the same as last week (2 x 2miles at 8min pace plus 4 x 100m sprints) but the fact my hamstring and 'bit between the calf and shin on inside of leg' was hurting a lot, I thought it best not to try it 2 days before the Hard As Snails 10k as I'm going to have enough trouble getting up those hills as it is. For anyone that didn't see the 3D flyover last time, check this out!!

eatingtrees is coming round tonight and kipping over due to the early start although his accommodation isn't exactly luxury. He'll be sharing the room with a LOT of boxes, bags and general rubbish as the move also starts tomorrow. However, a lovely veggie curry was made last night so that should make it a bit nicer for him. Well until the 5k mark tomorrow morning anyway!

LG has decided against coming when she found out we were leaving at 6.45am so no crossing the line photos as we finish (on our hands and knees) for us which is a good thing considering the state I'll be in. A 10k where I just want to finish and the fact it'll take well over an hour doesn't bode well. Plus it seems that eatingtrees has been practising on the hills whereas the steepest thing I've seen recently is the letting agents fees!!

PB for 11,500 feet!

Now I don't know the exact time as I was a little busy bricking it at the time but I do know I've never gone that fast before without the use of an engine of some sort and therefore must have smashed by PB. Mind you, it's not that surprising when you consider that I did have the distinct advantage of gravity helping me out as it was 2.18 miles straight down!!

Now that's a bit of a rush isn't it. I now know why iliketocount chooses to fling himself out of planes for 'fun'. It's a strange feeling when you do it for the first time. Free falling through a cloud with a bloke strapped to your back just feels like it's going against everything your body should be doing but I can understand why it would become addictive. If only I didn't live in an area seemingly devoid of any sort of skydiving school then I might of even considered doing the training and doing it on a regular basis but the 1-2hr drive each way puts me off if I'm honest.

Minor, minor twinge on my left ankle as I put my heel down about half a second before I finished sliding along the floor which stretched it a little but it's fine. It's my own fault as I was trying to take the pressure off my hip so I didn't do any more damage to that.

NORTH LONDON?!?!?! IT'S NORTH OF CAMBRIDGE!

Speaking of the hip, it is feeling better but still aches occasionally but not as much as it did. I think this was helped more by the beating I once again took from my Osteopath on Saturday morning. If I'm going to avoid any more issues, I think I'm going to have to start Yoga in a bid to make me more flexible and avoid more of these types of injuries so that will probably start this week before mine and LG's 10k on Sunday. Oh and I have the wear these strange little pads under the balls of my feet to spread my toes and relieve the pressure there from as well. My new theory about curing injuries is now... try everything!

Right, I'm off to get quietly annoyed at the people who clog up Wimbledon Village for 2 weeks every year in the name of Tennis!

LOST: Ability to move without causing pain in left hand side of my body

If found, Please return to:

Hauling My Carcass
South West London
Near the River
UK

Today was a lazy day to continue my lazy week. Myself and LG did have to go up to the storage place and get a few boxes though so I decided to run there and meet LG, load the car up and then run back. It was very short and not so sweet. Everything has started to ache and I'm at a bit of a loss at what to do now. Resting for a couple of weeks didn't seem to help and I can usually run between 4 and 6 miles without too much of an issue but after that and the next day, walking is more difficult than it should be for a 29 year old. Maybe it's time for a trip to the doctors.

Stats for day 7 of Juneathon:
Out: 1.04 miles at 7:40 (7:22 pace)
Back: 0.67 miles at 5:12 (7.45 pace)

Slacking but not through laziness

I seem to have done a little damage to my hip although no-where near as much as Jogblog managed to do to her ankle but because of this (my hip, not Jogblog's ankle) I've only ran once since my Touch Rugby session. This was last Tuesday when myself and Lovely Girlfriend went to Richmond Park for a bit of exercise as it was a lovely evening. LG is going to be running her first ever 10k at the end of June so it's good for me to be training with somebody again as it hasn't been done since myself and eatingtrees trained for the Royal Parks half last year and frankly, I was starting to get bored of my own company.

Anyway, it consisted of a 1.5m run from the car to the hill, then we ran some hills for a bit before running back again. It was on this return leg that the pain really intensified to the point I had to stop because I was overcompensating so much, my left knee started aching too. Now the hills weren't what caused it as I'd noticed it a week or so before but they certainly didn't help. It's now the following Monday and there's still a little ache on the hip but nothing too bad. However, because the BUPA 10k costs a sodding fortune and I don't want to waste that money, I'm not going to run until then and then just try and get round. I don't have a PB for a 10k as such as I've only done one race before and all I can remember is that I finished in 53:xx so the plan as to go under 53mins. Unlikely now which is a pain but I'll give it a go anyway.

Now not being able to do either Touch or running for the past week, I've had to do a couple of things to keep the week interesting. So I've, in order:

a)Looked at a new car
b)Went to an Album Launch Gig
c)Went for many, many drinks to celebrate LG's and another friends birthday
d)Test drove new car
e)Bought new car
f)Went to Cambridge and camped in an airfield
g)Trained to jump out of a plane for LG's birthday
h)Didn't jump out a plane as we have tremendously crap weather in this country
i)Went out for a meal for LG's birthday
j)Slept

See, I've been doing other things and here's a picture of the new beast! We pick it up on Thursday and I can't wait. It may only be a Citroen to some people but as we've been driving a P-reg Clio, this thing's going to feel like a Rolls Royce!!
